Medusa 2020

An exploration of feminine aesthetics relating to victim blaming of women who have been sexually harrased by men in power, still present in male created media. This is a product of patriarchal, colonial culture. The songs are Princess Nokia’s Versace Hottie and Debby Friday’s Medusa which are contemporary musicians that explore the medusa myth from a contemporary, empowered lens.

This is an Augmented Reality video drag performance. The screenshots below also feature another part of another longer form performance for Transformer’s Siren Arts 2020 online which includes the environmental concerns regarding medusa jellyfish and a speculative solution that redirects their biomatter as solutions for mask and plastic based medical equipment.
